United ITF Australian Championships 2015

USMA Taekwondo competed with fighting spirit at the United ITF National Championships this weekend, bringing home 19 medals, with 13 of our students set to represent Australia at next year's World Titles in London.

Melbourne-based Master Spiridon Cariotis (7th Dan) travelled to Queensland with a team of 14 students participating in the tournament held in East Brisbane on Saturday.

In the lead up to the event – which drew scores of competitors, coaches, officials and spectators from around the country – our USMA members had been working tirelessly not only for national glory but also for a chance to represent Australia at the 2016 ITF World Championships to be held in England.

USMA Taekwondo students took out a total of 19 medals – seven Gold, eight Silver and four Bronze, with 13 members selected for the national team across sparring, patterns, special technique and power breaking events.

“I’m proud of their achievements. It shows what is possible with consistent training,” Master Cariotis said after the event.

"It was a good performance, showing our strengths and weaknesses, which paves the way for understanding how we’ll prepare ourselves for London.”
